About Aji stone
Aji stone is known more accurately as "fine-grained biotite granite." It is a hard stone that can withstand the wind and snow for many years and is treasured for its dignified, beautiful color.
It is said that when Yashima Toshogu Shrine was built, highly skilled stonemasons were summoned from Minami Izumi in Settsu Province and were so impressed by the quality of the stone that they settled in the area.
Since then, the Mure and Aji districts have gained renown as production centers of the highest-quality granite in our country.
